Parents often look for books that will teach their children good characteristics, such as faithfulness, truth, and helping others. True, most of the parents are looking for these types of books for their toddlers and preschoolers, but your teen could learn just as much, maybe even more, reading books that teach character, as your little ones.

In the book, Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione, your teen will become enthralled with the valiant acts of the Knights of the Prince, as they fight off the Shadow Warriors and evil creatures that chase after them and the poor citizens of their kingdoms. They soon discover the true calling of following the King’s Son and fighting for the King’s kingdom, even if it means dying themselves.

Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione is the first book of a six-book series. Each book covers a knight of the Prince and tells a spiritual allegory of how each knight overcame their nemesis. The books in the series of Knights of Arrethtrae are:

The book Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione begins when a couple Knights of the Prince, Sir Kendrick and Sir Duncan, are dispatched to go find the reason behind a new sinister threat to the Knights of the Prince. There are many dangers as they go out to find the answers, such as fighting stronger knights in a sword fight, escaping huge creatures, and staying clear away from sin.

The author, Chuck Black, also wrote the Kingdom Series, which I wrote about last month. The author is a homeschool father, who wanted to write down these incredible stories, because of the lack of interest his children had in reading and studying God’s word. I actually had the wonderful opportunity of interviewing Mr. Black last year and had a wonderful time looking at his wonderful heart.

  1. A sixth book in a series! That is very impressive. And I do believe teens can benefit from reading about the positive human characteristics, so I’ll take a look at these.
