About Katie Fitzgerald

Katie Fitzgerald is a voracious reader of children’s books and a regular visitor to the public library. She holds degrees in English and library science, and has worked in small town and big city libraries, serving both children and teens. At Secrets & Sharing Soda, she reviews easy readers, early chapter books, middle grade novels, and young adult novels in the realistic fiction genre. At Story Time Secrets, she blogs about early literacy and story times for ages 0 to 6. She served on the CYBILS panel for Easy Readers and Early Chapter Books in 2011 and 2012, and has also been a judge for Ages 5-7 in the Storytubes Contest sponsored by the Gail Borden Public Library District. She is married to a fellow librarian, and she is gaining a new perspective on libraries and literacy as a new mom.

The Poky Little Puppy by Jenette Sebring Lowrey

What is your favorite thing about the library?

As a librarian, my two favorite things about the library are performing story times and connecting kids with the books they will love and remember throughout their lives. As a reader, I appreciate all the free resources the library offers and the fact that all people, regardless of background, economic status, or age are welcome to use them.
