10 Transportation and Truck Titles for Toddlers from LibraryAdventure.com

Babies and toddlers LOVE trucks, trains, planes and automobiles!  Here are a few of our favorite books on this beloved subject:

1.  Freight Train by David Crews

I love this book for toddlers! A great read aloud and it is always fun to name the train car colors. Very simple text, bright, eye-catching drawings. If you are looking for a fun craft to go along with the book click here.

2. Trains Go! by Steve Light

Another great read aloud about trains – this one written with tons of wonderful sounds! Whoosh!!

3. Fire Engines by Anne Rockwell

My kids have 3 uncles who are professional firefighters, and two great-grandparents who were also firefighters. We own LOTS of books about firefighting and fire engines. I like this one for toddlers because the text is fairly simple and the pictures are bright and clear. Good information about engines including the fact that they can come in different colors. (PS – my brothers say REAL fire engines are RED!)

4. Airport by Bryon Barton

This book would be great to use before a trip with a toddler or young child. Includes a diagram of the parts of the plane and a simple social-story of what happens when you go on a trip by plane.

5. Chugga Chugga Choo Choo by Kevin Lewis

This was my youngest’s favorite book when he was a toddler. Awesome bouncing rhyme can be sped up and slowed down to sound like a train. Kids love chiming in with the train whistle “Woooo Wooo!”

6. Tip Tip Dig Dig by Emma Garcia

Cute rhyming text describes various construction site vehicles that are working to build a playground. Toddlers love trucks!

7. Toot Toot Beep Beep by Emma Garcia

Another great book by Emma Garcia, this one describing different types of cars – each having their own unique sound (swish swish!)

8. School Bus by Donald Crews

Classic bright yellow book about what a bus does all day long.

9. Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle

Rolicking rhyme about a can-do truck! Fun and full of friendly animals!

10. Red Truck by Kersten Hamilton

Delightful bright pictures and an equally delightful story about a plucky truck that saves the day when a school bus gets stuck in a nasty wintry mix storm.

Please share your favorite toddler transportation titles!
